Commit to Being Healthy

When you think of being committed to something such as a relationship or a job, what do you think about?  I would dare say that you think of how much it means to you, how you would not want to lose it, and what you may have to do to keep it.  For instance, in a romantic relationship, you know that in order to sustain it you much do things such as spend time with the person, be nurturing, think of and plan for the future, be kind to the object of your love in thought, word and deed, be responsible....the list is endless.  When you think of your commitment to a job/business that you really want and desire to keep, you would consider things such as being responsible, being present when you are supposed to be, future growth and sustainability, customer service, and the list goes on.

Now let's talk about your health.  If you were diagnosed with "so-called" diabetes, and you are committed to reversing the condition and living a normal, happy, healthy life, then you may have to commit to certain acts such as:

  • An exercise routine.  Check with your doctor to determine whether you have any physical limitations in regards to exercise, and then have a routine tailored to your capabilities.  If you are ambulatory, walking is always a good start.  Also consider yoga or tai chi which have great calming effects among other benefits.  Find a physical activity which you enjoy, and be committed to incorporate it into your weekly routine.
  • How's your diet???  Ok, I know how challenging it may be to alter a diet which you may have been accustomed to for years, however in your commitment to reverse diabetes and live a normal, happy, healthy life, you may really have to take a good, hard look at what you are eating.  Does your diet consist primarily of fresh fruits and vegetables (preferably organic)?  If not, try adding fresh fruit and vegetables to your daily diet, while eliminating one or two types of processed foods.  Everyone is different so there's no magic formula as to how you should progress in order to be successful.  On a personal note, I am vegetarian, however it took me several years before I actually eliminated all meat, poultry and seafood from my diet. Always check with a licensed medical professional before making any drastic alterations to your diet, and then proceed at a comfortable pace so that you can gradually realise success.  This way, you are more likely to stick with it as opposed to attempting a "crash diet." Also, your metabolism will thank you for not shocking it!
  • Let's talk about spirituality.  Do you have a spiritual discipline which allows you to feel at peace and motivated?  Do you pray daily and meditate?  Seek and adopt a spiritual discipline if you do not have one.  It is what I consider a mandatory survival tool.  Include prayer and meditation in your commitment package.
Speak your commitment aloud and write it down.  Place "post-it" notes on your refrigerator, in the bathroom, bedroom, anywhere which when you see the notes, you are reminded of your commitment to health.  You can do this.  The Universe will support you in any good act.  Until next time, I wish you love, light and radiant health.

Pay Attention!!! Your Body is Speaking

After looking back over the past several years, I realized that my body was speaking and giving me warning signals for quite some time.  Why were these signals allowed to remain unheeded?  At least part of the culprit was the fact that I used to put everyone's (and I do mean everyone's) needs above my own.  In the pecking order, I could wait, because everyone else's needs seemed to be more urgent than my own.  I allowed my job, family, friends, workshops, clients, literally everyone to have their needs met, and then would allocate whatever precious moments were left over to my own needs.

This type of behavior is actually typical of those who are regarded as being "capable."  Does this sound like you?  Try to avoid falling into this trap.  Know and remember that you cannot serve others properly unless your own needs are met.  If you allow youself to become burned out, then at the end of the day you are no good to anyone else, especially yourself!

We are unable to singlehandedly "save" everyone, as much as we'd like to think we can.  Others will continuously lay their crises at your feet if you permit it.  Lay aside the guilt, and allow yourself the freedom of saying a simple two-letter word...."No."  Unless it is a life and death situation which you are skilled in handling, other's problems can be put aside for one night.

When your body signals that sleep or rest is in order, succumb to the urges.  Give it what it wants!  I'm not suggesting that you act irresponsibly and drop everything you're doing if you are in the middle of a project at work, and lay down and take a nap!  Of course that would be ridiculous.  I am asserting, however, that you pace yourself, manage your time properly, and include self-care in your daily schedule.  It will make a world of difference.

Take time out of your busy day to meditate, pray, or relax.  As an alternative to watching television, listen to meditative music or soothing classical music.  The choice is yours.  Think of creative ways which you can relieve stress.  Relax in the tub and have scented candles glowing.  When is the last time you pampered yourself?  Think of ways in which you can treat yourself to a soothing experience each day.  Even if you only have 15 minutes to spare, make this a part of your daily routine.  Over time, you will reap the benefits.  Feel free to share with us your personal rituals/routines which you think we may benefit from.

I wish you all love and light.

As a reminder... I am NOT Superwoman!

It's Hard to Have Diabetes

It's hard to have diabetes.  I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what I experienced.  On December 23, 2009, I was diagnosed with diabetes at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.  I was brought into the hospital via ambulance after having stayed home from work for several days because I thought I was just "tired and burned out."  I almost slipped  into a diabetic coma, and doctors voiced their surprise that I had recovered, because my blood sugar level had exceeded 1000, and the were unable to get an accurate measurement.  My eyesight had deteriorated, and I was so weak that even a simple task such as picking up my handbag seemed like a major chore.  When I was ready to be discharged from the hospital, a nurse informed me that I would have to use Insulin for the rest of my life, and she proceeded to show me how to administer it.  I almost fainted when she showed me the needle, and I could not believe that this was something I would be resigned to do forever in order to stay alive.

My husband and I were determined to find a cure for me which did not involve prescription medication.  You can read the full story at my website http://www.spiritchange.com/.   I had so many fears and concerns.  I was
  • terrified of losing my eyesight completely
  • afraid that I would no longer be able to work and end up losing our home and lifestyle
  • terrified by the possibility of amputation which I had heard so often results from diabetes
  • terrified of the possibility of developing concurrent diseases such as cancer, heart disease, kidney disease as well as stroke
I overcame this deadly disease and reversed it by using holistic treatments.  I never gave up hope, and I never will give up hope. I "dared to win."  You can too!

I recently "discovered" a new holistic remedy for diabetes called the Natural Organic Diabetes Solution Supplement (NODSS).  After winning the fight against insulin and prescription medication in 2010, I had been using supplements produced by Invite Health, which are excellent products.  I was also using herbal formulas produced by Cosmic Enterprise Health Food Store.  Also excellent products.  I believe, however, that I discovered the "creme de la creme" of natural cures for diabetes.  The Natural Organic Diabetes Solution Supplement further reduced my blood sugar readings within three days.  Now don't get me wrong, I am not claiming this to be a miracle substance, however these are my personal results.  About a week later, I was given a flyer for this product, and - would you believe it --- the flyer states that most people see results within three to seven days.  I was so excited about the synchronicity of what I had experienced and then read just a week later!

At that point, I decided that I wanted to personally market the product in addition to the verbal campaign of advocating natural cures which I had been involved with since 2010.  So here's the product:

This blog is getting kind of lengthy now, so I'll end it here.  Future blogs will give you more product information and an update on how I'm doing.  By the way - did I mention that my goal is for my fasting blood sugar level to be 100 or below by the end of this year?  Also, I will be sharing exercise, diet and spiritual practices which I personally use in my wellness routine.  It's a lot of work, I kid you not, but the rewards are outstanding.  More updates to follow.  I wish you all love, light, radiant health and success.

Much love,
Queen Mother

P.S. - for those of you in the New York City area, I lead a diabetes support group on Saturdays.  Inbox me if you're interested in participating.  It's free!!!
